Things are heating up at Razor Performance Products!

     The company has moved to Arizona! Northstar Aerospace a large North American Aerospace Corporation based in Toronto Ontario Canada purchased Razor’s parent company Windsor Gear of Windsor Ontario Canada. With that sale, Windsor Gear’s Razor Performance Products division was sold to Terry Palmer and John Maris.  John and Terry are committed to continuing Razor Performance’s quality and performance while making the company a premiere racing product source for the professional racer.

Razor Pumps are exceptionally lightweight and efficient due to a highly engineered aerospace design, Razor pumps offer the serious racer an extremely lightweight solution without sacrificing reliability. Robust in design, using lightweight materials, makes certain these pumps will give trouble free service. As we have stated we have never sustained pump failure. Pumps have been severely damaged by ingestion of engine debris, but, we’ve never had a pump create a failure. 

John Maris:  John who will direct the business aspects of Razor, is a manufacturing professional with more than two decades of executive management of aircraft engine manufacturing plants. He is involved with the application of advanced technologies for solving aircraft engine manufacturing problems. His background in aviation and racing insures that product quality will never be compromised.

John is a “hands on” individual, and has been involved in racing in one form or another since a teenager. He is currently participating as the owner and mechanic of a midget team.

 Terry Palmer: Terry will manage the daily operations of Razor. Like John, Terry has been involved with a number different racing endeavors since his youth. Recently, Terry has operated a successful distribution business. However, now his time and energy is devoted to insuring Razor’s success. His sense of fairness with a friendly personal touch insures our customers our will be satisfied.

 As an avocation, Terry is still an active racer who competes on a regular basis. Additionally, he is closely involved with the local racing association and is mentor to many of the younger participants.

The RAZOR Division of Windsor Gear & Drive Inc. was formed in 1996 to begin addressing the opportunity of bringing our gear and pump manufacturing capabilities into the Automotive High Performance Industry. WGD Inc. Had been developing and improving on an aircraft dry sump application for over three years at this point. WGD Inc. had significantly improved on the reliability of the gear pump taking it from an average failure time of ten hours to a T.B.O.(Time between overhaul) of 1000 hours. 

Having learned how to make it reliable, we then went on to make it better. Using our extensive experience in gear design and manufacturing for both drive units (transmission) and for aircraft oil pump gears, we were able to improve on the capacity of the newly designed RAZOR pump.

The RAZOR pump had all the reliability of our aircraft pump but now also had improved capacity through our new gear design not used anywhere else in the Dry Sump Pump industry. Razor then took this new design gear and added aircraft quality by finish grinding the gear tolerances to AGMA 12 (American Gear Manufacturers Association) specifications.

The new RAZOR pump now had increased reliability, increased capacity and also improved vacuum due to higher quality, tighter tolerancing used during the manufacturing process.

The results are obvious on the engine dyno where we immediately saw increases in engine horsepower.
 

RAZOR Pumps are now in everyday use in the Automotive High Performance Industry, Electric Drive Vehicles and Land Based Generators (running 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week)
